History
"Chaya. It means lively."
And so it was done, bouncing baby Levy became Chaya Joy. Even if her mother was just a little wrong- Chaya is alive, not always lively. And it's something Chaya doesn't let her forget. The youngest child of Ruth Schmidt and Ira Levy was born and raised in Crocker Park with her older brother Art.
As an adult, Chaya loves being in Crocker Park, even if it wasn't always the place for her. Right after high school, she left and went as far as she could go- attending the San Francisco Art Institute... even if it meant leaving Aaron behind. Aaron Kaatz had been one of Chaya's best friends for as long as she could remember- they grew up together, went to school together, went to temple together... and she loved him, more than most high school girls loved their high school loves. But distance didn't treat them well, because love is hard, but even harder when there's a whole country between you.
So she made her way in San Francisco. At SFAI, she majored in design and technology- then took a job at a small ad agency in the city once she was done. While San Francisco was beautiful- she never really felt like she was at home. Home was always Crocker Park.
So here she was, ten years later, ten years older, ten years wiser. She does freelance ad work for friends she made while in San Francisco who are now split between the west coast, Chicago and New York- the joys of the internet. She'll occasionally have to fly out for a client meeting, but for the most part she works out of her home office- in her pajamas with her dog at her feet.
